Description

This project is an environmental molecular epidmiologic investigation of groundwater arsenic exposure, genetic polymorhisms and skin lesions in Bangladesh. Bangladesh has experienced an epidemic of arsenic intoxication because tube wells have been drilled into alluvial deposits high in naturally occurring inorganic arsenic. This case-control and repeated measures investigation aims to clarify exposure-responses, and modification of adverse health effects of exposure by heritable(genetic) and lifestyle (eg diet) factors.
